Veterans Intake & Outreach Specialist

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position M – F. Some evenings and weekends may be needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Intake & Outreach Specialist for Veterans Services provides referrals and support for veterans who are currently facing or at risk of facing homelessness with the goal of engaging veterans in HVRP and outreach to potential employer partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Development

A. Review grant and reporting requirements.

B. Complete training on HVRP Standard Operating Procedures and all other required trainings.

C. Develop outreach schedule in alignment with proposal and grant requirements.

D. Develop and maintain a working relationship with community resources that will provide client support.

Program Management

A. Conduct client intake to assess eligibility and needs for employment services, housing, and other community services to ensure a comprehensive approach to support.

B. Ensure all eligibility documentation is filed in veteran’s file

C. Provide outreach to veterans experiencing or at-risk of experiencing homelessness with the goal of engaging veterans in HVRP and outreach to potential employers.

D. Outreach consistently with employer partners to gather feedback.

E. Attend and participate in staff meetings as scheduled.

F. Attend training as requested and/or required to meet program/licensing requirements.

Responsible to carry out other duties as assigned to support program operations and goals.

POSITIONS QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience: Two years related work experience. Military service or experience preferred.

Skills: Excellent communication and counseling skills. Expertise in case management skills. Ability to work with a diverse population required.

Licenses: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

A. Ability to Stand, Walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outward and above shoulders, speak, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend on a daily basis

B. Capability to Lift, carry, push or pull up to 25 lbs on a daily basis
